Whether you are a brand-new yoga student, a seasoned practitioner, a new teacher, or a veteran guide, there often comes a moment when you crave something more: not just another flow, not just another pose. A deeper understanding, a stronger foundation, a way to root your practice in something meaningful and lasting -- that is where my new Yamas and Niyamas Immersion comes in.
The Yamas and Niyamas are the first two limbs of the eightfold path of yoga. They are the ethical guidelines of the practice — not rules to follow perfectly, but principles to explore thoughtfully. They offer a framework and path for how we relate to others and to ourselves. In many ways, they are the heart of yoga philosophy and moving through our daily lives feeling aligned and our best selves.
Yet for many students, these teachings are mentioned briefly in teacher training or referenced occasionally in class, without ever being fully unpacked or explored.
This immersion was created to change that.
Inside this Yamas and Niyamas Immersion, you are invited to slow down and spend intentional time with each of the five Yamas and each of the five Niyamas. Rather than rushing through them conceptually, you are encouraged to experience them in your body, in your breath, and in your daily life. You can spend as long as you like with each guideline. You can return to any or all as frequently as you like.
I could see this being a yearly practice. A student could spend a month on each Yama & Niyama, spending 10 months moving through, and then it can be repeated each year.
Each principle's section within the Immersion includes guided prompts designed to spark reflection. These questions/prompts are not about “getting it right.” They are about noticing. Where does this principle already show up in your life? Where does it feel challenging? Where might there be space for growth? How can you think about it in your life?
To help you move beyond intellectual understanding, each Yama and each Niyama is paired with a full-length Vinyasa practice. These flows are intentionally themed to embody the energy of the principle. Through movement, you begin to feel the philosophy rather than simply think about it.
Each module also includes a meditation designed to help you integrate and manifest the principle into your everyday experience. Philosophy becomes powerful when it moves off the mat and into real life — into conversations, boundaries, choices, and habits. These meditations offer space to anchor the teaching within your own life.
The beauty of working with the Yamas and Niyamas is that they are timeless and universally relevant.
YAMAS:
NIYAMAS:
They are not about perfection. They are about awareness.
Each time you study these principles, you are seeing then in a new light from a new place in life.
In a world that often emphasizes productivity and performance and instant gratification/automation, this immersion offers something different. It invites curiosity over criticism, connection over results, reflection over reaction, intention over autopilot.
For teachers, this immersion can deepen your confidence in weaving philosophy into your classes in an accessible and embodied way. I provide a pdf file of each Vinyasa practice's plan for your use. You also, of course, earn 30 Continuing Education hours for your Yoga Alliance Teacher Registration. (You can also search for my class on the Yoga Alliance website's directory for Continuing Education. Search Yoga with TG to find me :)
For students, this immersion provides a grounding anchor for your practice. When you understand the “why” behind yoga, the asana becomes more than exercise. It becomes a moving meditation, a practice of alignment not just in the body, but in your values.
You can move through the immersion at your own pace. Spend a week with one principle. Spend a month. Return to one that resonates. There is no timeline and no finish line. The Yamas and Niyamas are not something you complete — they are something you continually explore.
If you have ever felt that yoga is more than poses…
If you have ever wanted to deepen your practice in a meaningful, practical way…
If you are ready to root your movement in philosophy and live your yoga beyond the mat…
This immersion is your invitation.
It is an opportunity to reconnect with the foundation of yoga in a way that feels embodied, approachable, and deeply relevant to modern life. Through reflection, movement, and meditation, the Yamas and Niyamas become not just concepts, but companions on your path.
And from that place, your practice transforms.
This is your moment to dive deep within yourself and your practice. See you in the Immersion!
